Job purpose
Reporting to the President, this role has direct responsibility for the development of Human Resource activities, such as Employee Relations, Compensation, Recruitment, Training, Benefits Administration and Compliance.
Duties and responsibilities
Lead, develop and mentor Human Resource team which can include HR Generalist and Benefits Specialists
Oversee the development, improvement and implementation of all Human Resource policies and procedures relating to recruitment and compensation, performance evaluation and training, employee disciplinary action and termination, benefits selection and administration, and overall employee/employer compliance
Oversee the cataloging of all company roles, including updating job descriptions, establishing compensation targets, and determining likely growth trajectories
Develop internal and external support materials and mentoring programs for ongoing manager development
Directly engage and manage external vendors relating to insurance plans, including group health, dental, vision, worker’s compensation, flexible spending plans and retirement plans
Liaise with external legal counsel to proactively address legal issues and ensure high ethical standards are maintained, including the meeting of Federal, State and local regulations
Provide manager support for all new hire on-boarding and employee off-boarding
Direct and oversee safety program, including program implementation, training, incident investigation, the collection, evaluation and maintenance of data concerning injury claims
Remain current on laws and compliance as they relate to Human Resources in all regions with employees, including mandatory employee/management training and documentation
As part of the Leadership Team, share information and respond to departmental needs and concerns to promote cohesive and effective operations of the organization
Promote positive employee relationship that encourage job satisfaction through engagement, recognitions, retention programs, etc.
Develop and manage departmental budget, including cost-benefit analysis of all benefit programs
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
Strong managerial and leadership skills, including the ability to develop and mentor key personnel
10+ years experience in human resources with increasing responsibilities including recruitment, training, compensation and performance review oversight, benefits administration, compliance and supervisory capacity. Agricultural, construction, food production, or industrial-related HR experience highly preferred.
Proven analytical thinker and strong oral and written communicator with resolution management skills
Ability to “see the big picture” without losing an eye for the importance of details
Must be available to support production teams when needed, including early morning or evening or weekend work as needed.
Working Conditions + Physical Requirements
Ability to work indoors and outdoors, in an office and with machinery, at ground level or elevated on cat-walk spaces with exposure to related equipment varying noise levels.
Must be able to lift and carry weights of up to 50 pounds at varying frequencies
Possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, carrying and twisting in a production environment

All HR department employees, which would include at least two Human Resource Generalists Safety Coordinator.
