Operations Director - Lingua Franca

Willamette Valley, OR - Full Time

The Operations Director is responsible for the leadership, development and management of all sales channels, implementing effective and innovative new membership generation strategies, upholding the integrity and building of Lingua Franca brand image. 

Foster a sense of authenticity while driving the luxury quality, sense of scarcity, while delivering the Lingua Franca hospitality experience. 

The position is located Willamette Valley, Oregon.

The Operations Director reports to the CEO/CFO. 

The Operations Director will mentor and develop the existing sales team, which includes one trade sales manager, a hospitality/direct-to-consumer manager, and two full-time hospitality staff.

The key objectives of this position are to:

  • Assist the hospitality manager in creating a plan to increase the number of guests hosted at the winery.
  • Ensure the hospitality/DTC team are acquiring new customers and deepening relationships with existing customers to grow the business’s base of private clients.
  • Strategize with the winemaker to plan production volumes to maximize revenue while not producing excess inventory.
  • Be a stabilizing and organizing mentoring influence for a talented, but young sales team
  • Cooperate with the winemaker to “comanage” the routine operation of the business.
  • Enforce the budget and quickly identify and communicate when the business will deviate from budget
  • Understand the brand identity and ensure sales activities are consistent with that vision.

The primary tasks and responsibilities for this position are:

  • Establish goals for each manager and department, and routinely track performance against these. goals; assist managers in evaluating and modifying strategies based on data and results.
  • Ensure pricing and programming is line with financial and brand goals.
  • Guide hospitality manager in designing and executing a customer acquisition strategy.
  • Assist direct sales manager in developing, executing, and measuring a digital marketing strategy.
  • Establish systems to standardize collection and communication of key performance metrics.
  • Conduct weekly department review with managers.
  • Provide the winery’s board/senior management with insightful monthly reviews that will support the business’s decision making processes.
  • Select distributors in collaboration with the trade sales manager and senior management
  • Assist the sales manager in establishing allocations that will drive the business toward its longterm goals.
  • Lead the process of reallocation of wine between channels and customers as necessary.
  • Help identify and negotiate national multi-door sales opportunities.
  • Establish priorities for market visits and events.
  • Assist in identifying and hiring additional employees.
  • Assist trade sales manager in setting priorities for market visits and events.
