THE CLIENT

Benchmark Consulting is locating and screening candidates for this producer of international fine wines. This is a confidential search and selected candidates will be required to complete non-disclosure agreements prior to interviewing for the position.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Within a fast growing, innovative, premium wine company, develop and execute annual and 3yr Brand, PR, and budget plan consistent with overall brand goals. Working with CEO and Sales Broker, develop and manage brand advertising, promotion and public relations strategy and campaigns. Work with field sales in developing and executing regional/local programs. Work with sales and external public relations agencies to ensure execution of public relations and event strategy.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Marketing Director reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

POSITION 

  • The development and execution of the annual and long-term marketing and brand plans in accordance to plan timelines.
  • Develop, manage and ensure budgetary needs of Marketing Operations.
  • Development of marketing strategies based on knowledge, nature of the market and company needs for local and nationwide projects.
  • Translate business unit objectives and strategies to develop brand portfolio objectives, strategies and plans to facilitate growth in top markets.
  • Conduct Market research to determine market requirements for existing and future products, current market conditions and competitor information.
  • Develop, manage and deliver special projects as directed.
  • Monitor, review and report on all marketing activities and results to CEO as directed.
  • Develop brand identity and define brand attributes for each brand – artwork, fact sheets, sell sheets, tech sheets, bottle shots, etc.
  • Manage day-to-day brand management activities – accolades, positioning, pricing, support materials, sampling and sales support as needed.
  • Develop and deliver insightful presentation and strategies to the business unit and executive committee.
  • Oversight of Freelance and Contract employees.
  • Communication with sales regarding program elements.
  • Development and management of all PR and promotional activities to include negations with all media outlets; establish goals and objectives and track results vs. plan
  • Serve as key point of contact for vendors, and service providers for all marketing related business.
  • Maintain and nurture relationships with company attorney for marketing issues, which include applicable personnel, white keeping controller updated.

LOCATION

The Marketing Director will be based in San Francisco.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline.
  • Five or more years related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of wine industry and product marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability in strategic and fiscal planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Time, priority, and resource management skills.
  • Effective problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Strong and consistent track record of successful brand growth 
  • Thoroughness

PREFERRED TRAINING

  • MBA, related discipline.
  • Familiarity with wine production and sales.
  • Prior experience with broad market as well as national account driven wine brands.
  • Prior experience with major national marketing firm
