spacer_pixelThe Director of Sales’ key responsibilities are to monitor all business activities in the sales department, manage all sales personnel, communicate company direction, measure sales performance, and set goals to meet growth projections, while upholding a high level of customer service standards. You will need to identify challenges, provide guidance, and coordinate with other departments to meet company objectives. This position reports directly to the CEO and will serve as a key member of the senior management team.

The Director of Sales is expected to: 

  • Work with CEO on strategy and budget for both sales and marketing departments ensuring an alignment in controlled expenditures that drive an exponential return and operational efficiency within each department.
  • Recruit, hire, coach, develop and maintain a high-quality team of Wine and Spirits sales professionals
  • Spend time with each Wine and Spirits sales person throughout each day to help motivate, maintain focus and apply direction while checking progress on weekly/monthly goals and report any challenges or successes to the CEO.
  • Create and maintain weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual sales reports and provide detailed analysis on performance strengths and concerns with forecasting for the following period.
  • Calculate monthly commission reports, manage all incentive programs for the sales people and provide annual analysis of the sales department compensation plan.
  • Work with Director of Logistics to identify issues and inefficiencies while presenting potential solutions to the CEO. 
  • Work with wine, spirits and content managers to schedule and support regular training sessions for the sales department.
  • Work with Director of Marketing and Restaurant GM’s to develop and maintain lead generation strategies that convert restaurant guests into regular retail wine customers.
  • Work with Director of DTC Operations to strengthen existing customer acquisition and retention programs and develop new channels for customer growth.
  • Monitor various industry specific websites to gain insight and perspective on new products and currents events within the wine and spirits world and contribute commentary on behalf of the company where appropriate (i.e. SAVO, Blog, Etc.).

The performance of this position will be measured by the ability to accurately forecast and meet monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue budget while maintaining a customer retention rate of 60% or greater and enforcement of the Company's high standards for customer service. 


  • Successful track record of managing and building a high performance sales team, must have a minimum of 10 years prior sales management experience.
  • Experience selling and managing in a Wine/Spirits Business to Consumer environment.
  • High level hospitality experience preferred (i.e. Hotel, Fine Dining or Winery Hospitality)
  • Exceptional leadership ability including motivational skills & strong ability to build team spirit in line with Company’s objectives
  • Exhibits strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excels in an entrepreneurial environment and is a strong team player
  • Proficient in all MS Office programs and experience with Salesforce CRM and Netsuite ERP systems a plus
